Kangaroo & Joey Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

Materials:
Worsted weight yarn, 1 4oz ball Tan.
Pink, approx. 4 yards.
Dk. Brown 2 ply crewel yarn or embroidery floss,
approx 3 yards.
Fiberfill stuffing, about 2 oz.
Size 3.5m crochet hook or size needed to make gauge.
Gauge: 4 sc= 1"
Finished
Measurements: 7"
Note: Do not
join rounds. Place marker at beg of round.
Tip: If you add
stuffing as you go it is easier than waiting till
the end to stuff. Then you just pack the stuffing in
tight before closing.
Head: Beg at
nose. ch 2.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Rnd 2: *Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from *
around. (9 sc)
Rnd 3: * Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from
* around. (12 sc)
Rnd 4: *Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from *
around. (15 sc)
Rnd 5: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 6: Repeat rnd 3. ( 20 sc)
Rnd 7: *Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from *
around. (24 sc)
Rnd 8: *Sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from *
around. ( 28 sc)
Rnds 9 & 10: Sc in each sc.
Rnd 11: *Sc in next 3 sc, dec over next 2 sc; rep
from * around, end sc in last 3 sc. (23 sc)
Rnd 12: *Sc in next 2 sc, dec 1 sc over next 2 sc;
rep around, sc in last 3 sc. (18 sc)
Rnd 13: *Sc in next sc, dec over next 2 sc; rep from

Rnd 14: Dec around. (6 sc) Fasten off.
Pack head tightly with stuffing and whip stitch
closed.
Body: Beg at
neck, ch 12, join to form ring.
Rnd 1: Sc in each sc, do not join. Place marker. (12

Rnds 2 & 3: Sc in each sc.
Rnd 4: Sc in first 6 sc, inc 1 in next st (front),
sc in last 5 sc. (13 sc)
Rnd 5: Sc in each sc.

Rnd 7: Sc in first 6 sc, inc, sc in next 2 sc, inc,

Tail: Ch 30,
join to form ring.

of tail.

Rnd 3: Sc in first 16 sc, *dec 1 sc, sc in next sc; rep
from * around. (22 sc)
Rnd 4: Rep Rnd 3. (20 sc)
Rnds 5 & 6: Sc in each sc.
Rnd 7: 4 sc, [dec 1 sc, sc in next sc] 4 times, sc to
end. (16 sc)
Rnd 8: Sc in each sc.
Rnd 9: 3 sc, [dec 1 sc, sc in next sc] 4 times, sc to
end. (12 sc)
Rnds 10-13: Work 4 rnds of sc in each sc.
Rnd 14: *Dec 1 sc, sc in next sc; rep from * around. (8

Rnd 15: *Dec 1 sc, sc in next sc; rep from * around. (5
sc). Fasten off. Sew closed.
Stuff tail tightly and sew to body sewing first row to
back and lining bottom up with first row of base.
Pouch: Ch 13.
Row 1: Beg at top, sc in 2nd ch from hook, and each rem
ch. (12 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Dec 1 sc, sc to last 2 sc, dec 1 sc.
(10 sc)
Rows 3 & 4: Ch 1, turn. sc in each sc.
Rows 5 & 6: Rep row 2. (6 sc)
Sc around entire outer edge. Fasten off. Sew to front as
shown in photo lining lower edge up with 4th round of
base and 3/4" gap at upper edge.
Legs: Make 2.
Thigh: Ch 2.
Rnd 1: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc. (10 sc)
Rnds 3 & 4: Rep rnd 2 of head. (22 sc)
Rnd 5: Sc in each sc.
Lower Leg: Rnd 6: Sl st in 1st sc, ch 8, sk 3 sc, sl st
in next sc. (11 sts in circle)
Rnd 7: Ch 1, sc in 8 ch of circle, sc in 3 sc of circle.

Rnds 8-11: Sc in each sc of circle.
Rnd 12: *Dec 1 sc; rep from * around, end sc in last sc.
(6 sc)
Rnd 13: Dec around (3 sc) Fasten off. Sew closed.
Stuff lower leg tightly and pad thigh. Sew onto body as
shown in photo.
Arms: Make 2. Ch 2
Rnd 1: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Rnds 2, 3 & 4: Sc in each sc. Fasten off. Stuff and sew
to body as shown.
Ears: Make 2.
Front: With pink, ch 6.
Rnd 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next 2 ch, sc in
next 2 sc. Break pink, join tan.
Rnd 2: Sc around entire piece, inc'g 1 st at each end.
(12 sc) Fasten off.
Back: With tan only, work same as front. Place front on
top of back and sl st pieces together. Sew onto head as
shown.
Eyes: Wrap brown around a pencil about 12 times.
Carefully remove pencil and hold in place on side of
head. With a tapestry needle, st through each loop
forming a slight curve to the eye as you go. Cut the
tops of the loops and brush lightly to fluff.
Mouth: Embroider nose and mouth with straight stitches
as shown in photo.
Baby Joey
Head: Ch 2.
Rnd 1: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Rnd 2: Rep rnd 2 of Mamma head.
Rnd 3: *Inc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc; rep from *. (10
sc)
Rnd 4: Sc in each sc.
Rnd 5: * Dec 1 sc, sc in next 2 sc; rep from *, dec 1 (7
sc)
Rnd 6: *Dec 1 sc; rep from *, end 1 sc. (4 sc) Fasten
off. Stuff head and sew closed.
Body: Ch 6, join to form ring.
Rnd 1 Sc in each ch.
Rnds 2 & 3: Sc in each sc.
Rnds 4 & 5: Sc around inc'g 2 sts evenly. (10 sc)
Rnds 6 & 7: Sc in each sc.
Rnd 8: Flatten rnd and sc through both sides at once
across 5 sc. Fasten off. Stuff body and sew to head as
shown.
Ears: Make 2.
Front: With pink, ch 4.
Row 1: 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in remaining ch. (3
sc) Break pink, join tan.
Rnd 2: Sc around entire piece. Fasten off.
Back: With tan only, work the same as front.
Place front on top of back and sl st together. Sew onto
head.
Eyes & Mouth: With brown, embroider French knots for
eyes and straight stitch for mouth as shown in photo.
